Not all those who wander are lost. For as long as I know Caro we have always wandered but not always been lost. The core base of our friendship was to protect each other, guide each other and eventually find a place to call home together – whatever and wherever that would be. It is safe to say we found it. Caro found it. In Iceland, in Logi, in our two cats, in all that is yet to come.
It’s a dangerous business, going out your door, Bilbo says. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to. Caro, you have been swept off to exactly where you belong. So in your case, going out your door was not dangerous but rather necessary to lead you to this day today and real, honest happiness. We knew it all along: all you ever had to decide was what to do with the time that is given to you. You decided right. And it fills my heart to the brim.
You two together are a real eye opener. So just keep up your merry hearts, and ride to meet your fortune! And may the wind under your wings bear you where the sun sails and the moon walks. May it bring you light and love and happiness wherever you go. I thought up an ending for your story ‘And they lived happily ever after, until the end of all days.’
“Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back and home to bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
